About the Community Center of Excellence:
The Women’s Health Coordination Center is
one of 12 centers to receive designation as a Community Center of
Excellence in Women’s
Health (CCOE) by the Office of Women’s Health, Department of Health
and Human Services (www.4woman.gov).
The mission of the CCOE is to increase the health and well-being of Valley
women and their families through the delivery of comprehensive care,
education, training, leadership development and community-based research.
Our programs include:
The
Healthy Divas
The Healthy Divas is a health-centered
network of women that support one another in maintaining a healthy
lifestyle. The program offers FREE health maintenance advice,
healthy cooking classes, buddy system, childcare and monthly newsletters.

Living Well Support Group:
The Living Well Support Group is for women living with chronic
diseases.
Women’s Empowerment Groups:
WE! Women’s Empowerment Program is designed to inspire creativity
and personal fulfillment for women in the Lower Naugatuck Valley by offering
FREE arts and crafts events and a quarterly Women’s empowerment
newsletter.
Women’s Health Series:
The CCOE works with staff at Griffin Hospital
to offer monthly education sessions for women of all ages. This year,
speakers will cover a variety of topics including stress management,
heart disease,
nutrition, and cancer. Calendar of events coming soon!!
Mentoring to Health Professionals and Consumers:
CCOE provides training
for women in leadership roles in the following health professions:
physicians, nurses, community outreach workers, midwives and public health
practitioners.
Additionally, leadership principles are infused in the consumer programming
conducted through the CCOE.
