Project Access grew out of our physician community’s desire

uninsured people of the Valley.
WHEREAS, Among
the Valley physicians providing pro bono services for
uninsured patients, there was a growing concern about the

Access system of healthcare delivery, because it could offer
high quality, free, comprehensive services to their patients
for whom cost was a barrier to improved health status.

driving force behind this ground breaking initiative is the
Physician Alliance for access to care and treatment,
comprised of 59 physicians who have each volunteered to
provide free care to Valley Project Access patients and who
have embraced the Project Access model.

Project Access is a physician led program that links
low-income (under 200% FPL), uninsured Naugatuck Valley
residents to high quality, free specialty care services;
necessary ancillary and diagnostic procedures; affordable
prescription drugs; and available state insurance and
assistance programs.

community partnerships with Valley physicians, Griffin
Hospital, Community Health Connection/Hill Health (Federally

needs.
