Mission: The mission of the Social Service Unit is to assist in the provision of comprehensive and quality social work services and to ensure that the patient's social and emotional, family and financial needs are being met during hospitalization for treatment of the patient's medical condition.

The Social Services Coordinator also assists the hospital in working to improve and expand community health services. The formation of a health transportation agency, a federally assisted community mental health center, services for victims of family violence, and a shelter for the homeless, are examples of hospital and community coordination.
